What will your learn?
Come to this workshop and learn how to use the proper tools to test your soil regularly and sample correctly. What soil test results are used for, what test results mean and how you can interpret them to improve your soil fertility will be discussed. Drew will talk about plant-available nitrogen and how other macro and micronutrients are available to your plants. Find out the importance of soil organic matter and its effect on the nitrogen cycle. We will go over some example soil test results and discuss potential improvements to the structure and health of your soil.
Who is your instructor?
Dr. Andrew (Drew) Corbin is the Director of Research for Organic Farm School. He is an agriculture and natural resources educator specializing in teaching sustainable, regenerative agriculture, especially as it relates to soil organic matter, cover crops, compost, resource recovery, reduced tillage, and organic farming. Drew has over 30 years of experience in Agroecology and has served as a Specialist in three of the leading US Land Grant Institutions. He was agricultural faculty for Washington State University, a Michigan State University Extension Educator, and a regional specialist in Integrated Pest Management for Cornell University Extension.
