We love the phrase, “many hands make light work!” Volunteers are important to us for several reasons.
As a volunteer, you get to observe what is happening at the farm and to interact with our staff and students. Hopefully, this provides you with opportunities to increase your awareness of food and farming.
You also contribute to the overall functioning of the farm, taking some pressure off staff and students by helping us in our areas of need:
weeding
mowing
watering in the orchard
driveway and flower bed maintenance
event hosting
market booth support
recipe research/development
wildlife monitoring
And more!
Last, but absolutely not least, you contribute to a spirit of community that we believe is fundamentally important in a food shed, and just as important for our students to experience so they can cultivate the same wherever they land.

Because we are a working farm, there is some paperwork involved (release from liability). We love having kids around, but please know that they must be accompanied by a watchful parent. Training is provided, especially for those who sign up for regular shifts, and vegetables are offered as the season makes available.
