As the Field Assistant at OFS, Kevin’s role includes facilitating the students in day-to-day farm tasks and assisting the rest of the OFS team. He became interested in farming through his experience of working in vineyards and wineries around the world from large conventional operations to small biodynamic ones, where he discovered the importance of soil health and its relationship to humans. Humans are typically seen as disconnected and a threat to the natural world and Kevin wanted to change that through regenerative farming. This along with his enthusiasm for delicious, fresh food and being outdoors were some of the driving factors that led him to attend the program in 2023. To him, being a farmer is being an observer of the natural world and finding how we as humans fit into the definition of nature; growing delicious food that nourishes our bodies and the land is merely a byproduct of true farming. His goal is to help reconnect people to the real power of food and help people learn more about regenerative practices.
