The Organic Farm School is humbled and honored to announce we are recipients of a regenerative tourism grant from the State of Washington Tourism and are seeking a part time project manager for a short-term contract position to oversee implementation of the grant.
Job Brief
We are seeking a dynamic and creative professional to help the Organic Farm School quickly transform our recently-created Feed and Seed farmhouse into a fully-immersive, regenerative, world class farm stay experience. This is a short-term contracted position funded by a grant. Work is to begin on January 1 and completed by October 31, 2025. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the tourism and agricultural industries, a large statewide/regional network in both of these industries, and a keen understanding of regenerative travel practices.
Responsibilities
● Guide the Organic Farm School leadership team in creation of a world class farm stay
● Assess the needs of the property and develop plans to deliver on the promise of transformational experiences for prospective guests
● Research and provide information about the current climate for farm stays and the agritourism scene locally, regionally and globally
● Research and provide detailed information about the ideal prospective guests for farm stays at the Feed and Seed/OFS
● Assist with creating experiences that align with the newly-identified target audiences
● Ensure that the farm stay program is accessible and inclusive
● Create a replicable template for other local and regional farms to follow, offering insight for the larger agricultural community to create their own farm stays with a goal of generating new revenue streams and collectively elevating the story of agriculture and our food system
● Provide regular briefings and updates to Organic Farm School leadership team
● Ensure that all grant requirements are always met on/or ahead of schedule including benchmarks, mileposts, measurable outcomes, midterm and final reporting
Requirements
● Deep understanding of the Organic Farm School, as well as Whidbey Island’s agricultural and lodging communities
● Demonstrated experience in regenerative tourism and transformational travel
● A large statewide network of professionals in both the agriculture and tourism industries
● Excellent organizational skills and the ability to move quickly and stick to deadlines
● Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
● Well-developed problem-solving, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
● Ability to travel to the Organic Farm School on Whidbey Island at own expense as required for in-person meetings
● Must have Washington state EIN and UBI numbers and meet other federally-funded grant requirements
Compensation
$30,000 of the grant is allocated for work to be completed by this contractual position. This contract is all inclusive, meaning that mileage, lodging or other expenses needed to complete this work will not be reimbursed and are the sole responsibility of the contractor. Under the grant restrictions, no prepayment is allowed and payment from invoices will be made in phases, and only after each phase of work is completed.
